A world leader in composite structures

Acrosoma ( formally Composittrailer® ) started life in 1993 out of 130-year-old trailer building company. In 2000, after several years of prototyping, Composittrailer®  started manufacturing trailers made entirely out of composite materials. These materials are designed specifically for heavy dynamic loads and are based on a unique and fully patented technology, with structures based around glued pultruded profiles, filament wound parts and Acrosoma tridimensional stitched panels. Over the last decade, trailer technology has evolved to become a mature and comprehensive composite structures industry, with a range of applications across different sectors. The development of the Acrosoma tridimensional structured panel technology has now been combined with filament winding technology.
This composite technology is used in road transport, aircraft production equipment, wind turbine rotor blades, specialized rescue equipment parts and blast proof applications.

Technological expertise since 1870

Acrosoma  started life as Carrosserie Stevens. Since it was founded in 1870, the brainchild of Constant Stevens, the company has continued to play a pioneering role in building and developing vehicle technology across four generations. Right from the start, innovation has been one of the company’s main priorities. Applications we now take for granted were pioneered through the technological and innovative wizardry of Carrosserie Stevens. A comprehensive history of Carrosserie Stevens has been published in a magnificent book, “Van Paardekar tot Composittrailer” (currently only available in Dutch). The book is for sale at the TMB Bookshop    http://www.tmbbooks.be/nl/truckm_Stevens.html
